An Unexpected Journey…

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I came back to this blog of ours. Let me catch you up with the highlights of the last few months.

(For the Spanish version, click here. Para la versión en español clic aquí.)

Our wedding day was such a blessing and I thank the Lord for all of you who prayed for us, and supported us. We can’t repay all your goodness, but we are truly grateful.

To view the photo albums of our wedding, just click on the photos below (but finish reading this blog first 😀 ):

Before our wedding day, I [Jana] was also appointed by the Church of the Nazarene to serve as the Regional Youth Coordinator for Asia-Pacific. I joined the Global Nazarene Youth International (NYI) Council for its meeting in Costa Rica last January. It is always a privilege to serve the Lord by making Christlike disciples among the youth.

Last March, Anderson finished his Master of Divinity degree at APNTS and we are very grateful to all of you who have given generously in order for him to study and obey God’s call to be equipped for the ministry. He could not have done it without your support. Even more, he finished all of the coursework for a second masters in theology and now he just needs to finish his thesis to get another degree! This is all thanks to you who had faith in him, his love for the Lord, and his academic abilities. You are in our hearts and prayers 🙂

He got Magna cum Laude 🙂

Lastly, we would like to share with you something that we have been keeping as a secret for several months. Now, we could finally share the good news to all of you! Now we can finally say it publicly: We will go as missionaries to Japan!

After a lot of prayers and waiting for God’s leading, we found a ministry opportunity at Okinawa Christian School International (OCSI). Anderson will be chaplain and I will be teaching Bible classes.

It has been a process of almost four months since we accepted this opportunity until last Friday when we finally got our visas. We are truly thankful for those who partnered with us in prayer!. We will be leaving the Philippines on the 7th of July (which happens to be Anderson’s birthday haha). This is such a great time of transition for us, stepping out in faith to where He has called us to go.

As we head out to our next adventure, we want to keep on counting on your support. We appreciate all your prayers:

1. Please pray for God’s help as we adjust to the new culture and place.
2. Please pray for God’s help as we study the Japanese language.
3. Please pray that God would help us build meaningful relationships with the Japanese people.
4. Please pray that we can be useful and effective with our roles at OCSI and also be a blessing to the students and faculty.
5. Please pray that we can be sensitive to how God wants us to serve everywhere we go.

Thank you for patiently reading our updates! We love you all!
